This visit, which is his second to Australia after almost three decades, will include various events and liturgical services in Sydney and Melbourne.

Description His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, the first amongst hierarchs in the Orthodox World, will be formally received with an Official Welcoming Doxology, in the presence of the Honourable Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, at the Cathedral of the Annunciation of our Lady at Redfern on Saturday, 5 October 2024, at 10 am. He will be warmly welcomed by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, along with local hierarchs, reverend clergy, and the faithful of Sydney and Canberra. The event will feature a procession from the corner of George St and Cleveland St, Redfern, to the Cathedral.

Concert - Celebrating the 100 years of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia

Description A concert celebrating 100 years of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia - a journey of migratory memories through songs, dance, and stage presentations reflecting on our Greek heritage. His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew

Patriarch Bartholomew, who is well known for his decades of peace advocacy across the globe, will visit Sydney and Melbourne between 4-19 October across a range of events to engage with members of the Greek Orthodox Church and the broader Australian community for the celebration of the Archdiocese’s centenary in Australia.

The ‘Patriarch for Peace,’ renowned in Orthodox Christianity for his global commitment, passion, and vigilance for the environment and for peace, will deliver these messages during his visit to Australia.

With a strong focus on peace advocacy, His All Holiness has been given the moniker ‘the Patriarch for Peace’, and invites all Australians to hear his message of peace as he travels to Australia.
